With the official launch of the OnePlus 10T in New York today, there is much to talk about, be it the presence of an impressive new chipset, or the absence of one of the staple OnePlus features from this model (the alert slider, of course!). In case you missed it, here's our in-depth review of the latest OnePlus phone. Now, let’s get down to business and discuss what can truly be appreciated about the new OnePlus 10T.

Performance

The OnePlus 10T is one of the first phones to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. The phone is packed with up to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 two-lane storage. With a series of memory optimizations, the phone can suspend around 35 applications in an instant for a faster, less interrupted user experience. All this, in addition to the Oxygen OS12.1, is a recipe for power.

OnePlus has one of the largest vapour chambers providing twice the heat dissipation capability of its predecessors. This means you don’t have to worry about the phone becoming a puddle of metal and motherboards when you start to overload it with RAM expansions or excessive gameplay.

Display

The 10T comes sporting a 6.7in FHD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 950 nits. Interestingly, the display comes with a max touch response rate of up to 1,000Hz. The adaptive refresh rate will help conserve battery life.

With HDR10+ certification, you can appreciate more accurate, true-to-life colour without much colour banding. The display even has native support for 10-bit colour depth and delivers a richer and more realistic viewing experience.

Cameras

When it comes to cameras, OnePlus has gone big. The triple camera setup consists of a 50MP Sony IMX766 primary sensor, complete with OIS support. Standing at a pretty large 1/1.56 inches, this sensor allows you to capture clearer details, even in uneven and low light conditions. This camera is capable of capturing pictures in full 10-bit colour.

Accompanying the primary sensor is an 8MP ultra-wide camera and a 2MP macro camera. One provides a 119.9-degree field of view while the other gets up close with an effective shooting distance of 2-4 cm.

The triple camera setup in addition to the Image Clarity Engine (ICE) 2.0, HDR 5.0 and TurboRAW algorithms provide the OnePlus 10T with impressive camera quality. It even has an algorithm called Nightscape 2.0 that combines its intelligent algorithm with pro-grade, low-light capturing capabilities.

Battery Life

The OnePlus 10T packs in a decent 4,800mAh battery. But, it gets so much better than that. The real golden ticket in this device is that it comes with support for SuperVooc 150W charging that can take your phone to 100% in 20 minutes.

Surprising as it seems, you don’t even need to worry about overcharging and blowing your battery up thanks to the Battery Health Engine. The Smart Battery Health Algorithm and Battery Healing Technology combine to ensure your 10T’s battery retains at least 80% of its original capacity after 1,600 charge cycles.

The algorithm also tracks and controls the maximum charging current and ensures it stays within a safe range to reduce the probability of dead lithium cells, thus extending your battery’s lifespan and preventing some damage to the environment.

Connectivity

Here’s something cool. The OnePlus 10T comes with a Smart Link feature that works to improve upload signals and speed by acting as an advanced signal navigation system (its own little GPS) to proactively find the best way to avoid network congestion (something we Indians know about a bit too well).

It doesn’t stop there. The OnePlus 10T is additionally fitted with 15 antennas that work together to form a 360-degree antenna system that delivers much stronger Wi-Fi and cellular signals, no matter which orientation the device is being used in.

Lastly, it is equipped with AMP Connect, a feature designed to reduce mutual interference between Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections when both functions are enabled. This gives you a faster, smoother and more seamless experience for all the challenges you throw the phone's way in terms of data usage.
