This was a surprise for all of us Stuffers back at HQ. Get ready for a blast from the past (with better graphics). World's Edge, the studio behind the Age of Empires games, just unveiled a trailer for Age of Mythology: Retold. It's a reboot of the classic 2002 game, mixing the nostalgia feels with modern gameplay and visuals. The trailer showed off epic battles, fancy godpowers, and even some spiffy new character designs for your favourite deities.

Platform: Xbox Series X/S, Windows, Steam, day one with Game Pass

2) Call of Duty: Black Ops 6

This time, Treyarch and Raven are taking us on a mind-bending spy thriller in the early 90s. Brace yourself for a twisty narrative where you can't trust anyone, not even your own side.

But it's not all paranoia and conspiracies. Black Ops 6 throws in a brand new movement system called Omnimovement, letting you sprint, slide, and dive like a true action hero in any direction. Plus, they're bringing back fan favorites like Classic Prestige, Theater Mode, and of course, Zombies!

Launch date: October 25th, 2024

Platform: Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Windows, Steam, Battle.net, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and day one with Game Pass

3) Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is here, and it's the biggest, greatest one yet. This isn't your grandpa's flight sim – we're talking cutting-edge tech, the most detailed planes and airports ever, and the most gorgeous recreation of Earth you've ever seen.

But Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 isn't just about sightseeing (although, trust me, you'll want to). You can now live out your pilot dreams with tons of new career options. Fight fires from the sky, rescue stranded hikers, fly commercial routes, or even become a high-flying VIP. The sky truly is the limit!

Grab your fedora and bullwhip! Indiana Jones is back in a brand new adventure: Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. The Xbox Showcase just dropped a trailer showing off some sweet gameplay and a glimpse of Indy in action. It’s going to be a first-person game with lots of action and cheeky dialogues with old-school movie charm. This time, Indy and his pal Gina are chasing rumours about a mysterious artifact that could change the world. Their hunt takes them on a perilous trek through the Himalayas in the trailer.

Xbox Games releasing in 2025

1) Doom: The Dark Ages

The Doom Slayer is back, and this time he's taking his demon-slaying rampage medieval! Doom: The Dark Ages is a prequel to the 2016 reboot. It's a single-player, fantasy FPS where you'll crack skulls and splatter guts in a brutal fight against demonic hordes. Sounds similar? This ain't your grandpa's Doom though. Get ready to unleash the Slayer's over-the-top arsenal alongside a giant mech and a freakin' jet-powered cybernetic war dragon. Oh, and you have a chainsaw shield too for parrying and countering!

Launch date: 2025

Platform: Xbox Series X/S, Windows, Steam, PlayStation 5 and day one with Game Pass

2) Fable

Forget the sunshine and rainbows! This year's Fable trailer throws us a dark curveball. We ditch the gardener-turned-giant (seriously?) for Humphry, a washed-up hero voiced by the hilarious Matt King. Time hasn't been kind to Humphry – his glory days are a distant memory. But when a shadowy figure emerges from his past, threatening all of Albion, Humphry's forced to dust off his rusty sword and get back in the hero game.

There's good news too! Fable is being co-developed by Playground Games and Eidos Montreal, the folks behind Deus Ex.

Launch date: 2025

Platform: Xbox Series X/S, Windows, Steam, day one with Game Pass

3) South of Midnight

The game follows Hazel as she journeys through a flooded wasteland inspired by the Mississippi Delta. But it's not all scenic views – she's also joined by her mysterious new companion, Catfish. Things get hairy (literally) when they come face-to-face with Two-Toed Tom, a giant albino alligator with a taste for humans (and apparently, theme songs?).

The trailer shows off some cool combat and traversal moves, including Hazel's magical weaving abilities.

Launch date: 2025

Platform: Xbox Series X/S, Windows, Steam, day one with Game Pass

4) Gears of War E-Day

Move over, grubs! Gears of War is going back in time with a brand new mainline game: Gears of War: E-Day.  This prequel takes us back 14 years to Emergence Day, the moment the monstrous Locust Horde first crawled out of the ground and ruined everyone's day.

Get ready to see a younger Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago face off against these nightmare creatures for the first time. The Coalition dropped a killer announcement trailer (made with the game's actual engine, no less!) that even features a new version of the classic "Mad World" song.

Launch date: NA

5) Perfect Dark

The Initiative just dropped the first look at gameplay for their Perfect Dark reboot, and Joanna Dark is back in action. In this near-future thriller, Earth is on the brink of collapse thanks to a series of environmental disasters. Joanna, a badass agent for dataDyne, is on the hunt for the world's most wanted criminal, Daniel Carrington. The trailer hints that Carrington might be behind some shady tech that could make things even worse.

Expect a mix of everything that made Perfect Dark great: fluid movement, cool gadgets, intense close-quarters combat, and of course, plenty of gunplay and stealth action.  Perfect Dark is shaping up to be the ultimate secret agent experience.  No release date yet, but stay tuned!

6) State of Decay 3

We all knew the zombie apocalypse wouldn't be a walk in the park, and State of Decay 3 proves it! Undead Labs just dropped a new, gritty trailer for their upcoming sequel, and things are looking intense.

It's been years since the infection went down, and the zombie threat is stronger than ever. You'll lead a ragtag crew of survivors, scavenging for resources, building a community, and facing off against the undead horde (including some seriously creepy new types). The trailer throws back to some classic State of Decay moments.
