Apple launches public beta for iOS 16, iPadOS 16, macOS Ventura, and more

Changes are headed your way, provided you are up for it…

It hasn’t been too long since the WWDC but Apple has been making many advances and changes to deliver on its promise of this year's iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS and HomePod software updates. The public Beta testing is now set to ensue. For those of you interested in being guinea pigs for Apple with access to the latest software, you can sign in with your Apple ID and download special software profiles for the supported devices.

Don't worry, as test subjects, you may not be getting the raw software. Apple’s public beta is usually more refined and battle-tested, with big upgrades over the early developer betas. The public Beta software is almost identical to the final release software these days, barring room for polishing features and addressing certain bugs.

That said there are some risks involved here and you can easily brick your i-device. If you plan on installing the Beta software, be sure you have up-to-date backups for your devices and all those confidential and important files, to avoid unnecessary risks. It is also suggested that you avoid installing betas on devices you use daily. Instead, install it on older/spare devices that you use less frequently from your apple collection (we know you have some hidden away in your collection).

If you are uncomfortable with the beat for any reason (cause change may not be your cup of tea), you can always revert to the previous version of the software, but you do risk losing existing user data when you downgrade, so choose wisely.
