The showbiz industry has had a long standing love affair with Audis and the new, 2022 A8L wilfully builds on those ties. Now with a wider single-frame grille with new chrome inserts that help announce your arrival before the refined V6 petrol engine does, it has more presence than ever before.
Illumination gets a big overhaul too with Digital Matrix LED headlights up front that are made up of 1.3 million micro mirrors which can be controlled across 5,000 angles so as to not dazzle oncoming traffic and dazzle you with fun animations when you leave the car. Tail lights get dynamic OLEDs too which have proximity sensors and also change pattern if you’re in Dynamic drive mode.
On the inside, new rear-seat entertainment includes the ability to Miracast from iOS or Android devices on to the twin 10.1in screens, 23-speaker 1920-watt Bang & Olufsen hi-fi system, heated foot massage on the boss seat and even a cool box to keep the bubbly always at hand.
Under the skin, some pretty dope tech comes in the form of Predictive Active Suspension that scans the road surface ahead using cameras to prep up the suspension before you hit the nasties. Of course, Audi’s famed Quattro all-wheel drive is standard but you also get 4-wheel-steering for tighter turns and more stability. But say you don’t care for all this and just want your leather stitched in a shade of pink! Well, the customisation program allows you to choose from a plethora of bold exterior colours, interior trim, upholstery and even the piping and stitching.
Starting at ₹1.29cr for the Celebration edition and ₹1.57cr for the Technology, the new A8L does feel like a bargain for the billionaire.
