When it comes to luxury cars, there is little more stunning and exclusive than a Bentley. The manufacturer has been dropping hints about its new and improved Mulliner Batur design language which will come to its EV range in the future. But finally, at the Monterey Car Week, the luxury car maker showcased the Mulliner Batur which is loosely based on one of its last iterations of the W12 internal combustion engine (ICE).
The car will now be the most powerful Bentley ever made with 730 bhp on tap courtesy of its 6-litre W12 engine. It is so exclusive (and expensive) that only 18 cars are being made at $1.95 million before options. But that aside, this car is a precedent for what can be expected in the future from its electric powertrains.
The grille on this model is flanked by a new headlight shape and design, a successor to the design used on Bacalar with a single large headlight on either side. At the rear, the car sports all-new tail lamps that sit on either side of a deployable spoiler.
This British automaker's new design language aims to retain Bentley’s heritage from the likes of the Continental GT line, Flying Spur line and Bentayga SUV line. Although, when it comes to EVs aerodynamics and drag do play a much bigger role, so you can expect some aerodynamic improvements on the EVs. By creating one of the most aerodynamic Bentleys ever, the EVs will get better range and noise reduction too.
To retain all that’s prestigious about the signature long Bentley bonnet, the new design will include a line that stretches from the bonnet along the whole length of the car, connecting the bonnet to the body to making the car look long and lean, giving it an elongated proportion towards the front end. So if all goes according to plan, you should still be able to recognise the Bentley from a mile away, even if it is an EV (although the lack of roar might make it a tad obvious).
