This is turning out to be a busy weekend if you plan to catch up on all the new movies and web series coming to various streaming platforms. From romantic movies with a twist to a twisty medical drama, there’s something for everyone.
We don’t want you wasting a second wondering where to start or what to watch. So here’s a handy guide on the best new shows or movies to catch up this weekend across popular OTT streaming platforms.

Netflix

Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein

The name will no doubt remind you of SRK’s Baazigar, but this Netflix movie promises to be equally dark and twisted. Starring Tahir Raj Bhasin, Shweta Tripathi and Anchal Singh, this is a story of a simpleton who becomes the object of desire and obsession for the daughter of an extremely powerful family. What follows is Singh’s desire to destroy Bhasin, and his efforts to save himself and his childhood love Tripathi.

The House

This is a dark comedy animated series that tells three separate tales about humans and animals who share one common thread – a seemingly innocuous house. The show is directed by Emma de Swaef and Marc Roels, Niki Lindroth von Bahr and Paloma Baeza.

Prime Video

Pushpa: The Rise (Hindi)

The Allu Arjun starrer has made a killing at the box-office, and now it is releasing in Hindi. Arjun plays the role of Pushpa Raj who rises from the bottom to head the red sandalwood smugglers syndicate in the Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh.

Disney+ Hotstar

Human

Shefali Shah and Kirti Kulhari-starrer Human is out to prove that not all medical dramas need to be as rosy as Good Doctor. As the makers put it, this series explores the “dark and twisted world of unethical human trials”. If the trailer is anything to go by, expect a storyline that is dark, gut wrenching, and yet exciting to watch.

Eternals

The first Marvel movie hitting OTT platforms in 2022 is Eternals. Follow a group of ancient aliens, protecting Earth for thousands of years, who are forced to reunite to take on the returning Deviants and protect humanity once again. Watch it for the ensemble cast that includes Angelina Jolie, Kumail Nanjiani, and Kit Harington amongst others.

VOOT Select

Ranjish Hi Sahi

This series is for the Bollywood historians, and has been created by Mahesh Bhatt. The story is loosely based on his own struggles in the industry, his rise, and the torrid affair with actress Parveen Babi. The series stars Tahir Raj Bhasin, and Amala Paul.

Apple TV+

The Tragedy of Macbeth

Joel Coen adopts a black-and-white setting to reimagine the classic Shakespeare tragedy. It may have been shot on austere, minimalist sets and fog-strewn spaces, but there’s nothing minimalist about Denzel Washington and Frances McDormand's acting prowess.
