We’ve extensively covered the cruisers over the last month, well now tis’ the season for BMW Motorrad’s newest super sport bike – the BMW S 1000 RR. The launch has commenced and the bikes should be delivered by February 2023 across India. Taking huge bounds forward in the engine department, this bike has surpassed its predecessors with the new comprehensive engine updates.

Since not everyone has the same needs, you can further customise your bike with one of the two optional packages – Dynamic and M. The Dynamic Package brings aboard Dynamic Damping Control, Riding Modes Pro, Heated Grips and Cruise Control. While the M Package (available in the Pro M Sport variant) redefines the look with special paintwork Light White Uni, M Motorsport, M Carbon Wheels, M Sport Seat, M Brake Calipers Blue, Fuel Filler Cap Black and an M Rider Footrest System.

The bike is compact and super-sporty when it comes to looks. It looks fit for both the road and track with the revamped front with a higher windscreen, side winglets and partitioning of the lower triple clamp. The redesigned upper and lower tail sections have been optimized too, to seem lighter and sportier while the rear includes a new hump cover for the pillion seat in an optional ‘monoposto’ look and a shorter, detachable license plate holder.

Fitted with an advanced 4-cylinder water/oil-cooled engine equipped with BMW ShiftCam Technology, this 999cc engine produces 210 hp at 13,750 rpm to deliver impressive levels of engine power. Despite the increase in peak output, the usable engine speed range is significantly larger offering a maximum engine speed is 14,600 rpm. The new airbox allows for variable intake funnels that optimise charge change and power generation, especially at higher engine speeds.

The bike packs on a 6-speed gearbox, an anti-hopping clutch with self-reinforcement, Dynamic Traction Control, steering angle sensors,  ABS Pro with new Brake Slide Assist and Gear Shift Assistant Pro to allow for the safest possible ride when it comes to sudden braking and gear shifts. On the technical side of things, you get a Coloured TFT Screen and electrical/electronic system with a new instrument cluster that has an optimised display of the rev counter. The Pure Ride screen provides all the necessary information for normal operation on road, while the three Core screen displays are designed for the racetrack.

This bike is fitted with four modes - Rain, Road, Dynamic and Race while the optional ‘Pro Modes’ offer three additional settings. You can perfect your race starts with features like Launch Control and the Pit Lane Limiter enables speed limiting when passing through the pit lane while the Hill Start Control Pro facilitates starting on gradients.

The BMW S 1000 RR is priced at ₹20.5 lakh(ex-showroom) while the Pro and Pro M Sport models are priced at ₹22.15 lakh and ₹24.45 lakh, respectively.
