Makeup can often seem daunting to the average person, especially if you have to buy it without any idea of how it’s really going to look. Well, it seems all those years of dog filters and extremely over-the-top beauty filters, have resulted in something useful. Flipkart has created a beauty extension to its augmented reality feature –Virtual Try-On.
It is exactly what it sounds like. It is a way for users to virtually try on the product, whether it is lipstick, foundation, eyeshadow, kajal, eyeliner, compact, concealer, highlighter, blush or mascara. This works with brands including but not exclusive to Lakmé, Maybelline, Blue Heaven, Faces Canada and L'Oréal Paris.
Since it is unlikely for you to try on makeup and then return it, this serves as a way for you to make an informed choice and find what suits you best without having to cake on any layers in real life. The visualisation will be extremely helpful in making your purchase and the process is pretty simple.
You can find the ‘Try On’ feature at the bottom right corner of the image gallery when you find the product. After ensuring your camera and gallery access are enabled, you can either opt for a ‘Live’ Try-On or upload a selfie to see how a product would look on you. If you love it you can save or share it with your posse to get their opinion. If you hate it, simply delete it from existence and pretend it never happened.
