Hold on to your wallets because Google has found a novel way to get your money. Google Play has introduced the UPI Autopay payment option for subscription-based purchases in India.
That means you can make purchases on the app, tap on ‘Pay with UPI’, approve the purchase in your supported UPI app and put it on Autopay. Will it help in managing recurring payments? Yes, without a doubt. But we also know what happens when a payment gets transferred to autopay mode (the subscription goes on for a zillion years because we feel too lazy to unsubscribe).
Nevertheless, the move comes in handy for those using subscriptions on apps like GoogleOne, Microsoft Office et cetera because users will no longer have to put reminders about making the payment and be scared of deactivation of the account in case they forget paying.
Now, UPI Autopay will use UPI payments to automatically deduct the set amount from your associated bank account every time the subscription needs to be renewed.
