Looking to buy an electric car? Add Hyundai Ioniq 5 to the list of options as the car has been unveiled in India and the booking is open too. The India-spec Ioniq 5 electric SUV is the brand’s first BEV to be introduced on Hyundai’s Electric-Global Modular Platform (e-GMP) which means we can expect faster charging, enhanced driving range, spacious interior and better handling.
As per the brand, the BEV has strong performance capability along with an ultra-fast charging capability of 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes courtesy of a 350kW DC charger, plus innovative solutions like Vehicle-to-Load (V2L): Inside and Outside, and Hyundai SmartSense (Level 2 ADAS).
The car features a battery of 72.6 kWh which gives it an ARAI-certified range of 631km on a single charge. Its electric motor can produce a power output of 160kW and 350Nm of torque.
Interestingly, the Ioniq 5 looks quite futuristic, in fact, it features a retro-futuristic design language with sharp lines, flat surfaces and raked windscreens. It has 20-inch aero-optimised alloy wheels that lend it a turbine-like design. The Ioniq 5 has enhanced cabin usability with a flat floor for increased legroom and a feeling of openness; a slim cockpit design; a sliding centre console; a sliding glove box and a front trunk with a boot space of 57 litres.
It has eco-processed leather seat upholstery, soft-touch materials on the dashboard and door trims. The armrest, seat upholstery, steering wheel and magnetic dashboard are all made and designed from sustainable materials like recycled plastic. The Ioniq 5 features a 12.3in touchscreen, Bose sound system with eight speakers and another 12.3in Digital Cluster with all information for the driver.
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 comes in three colour variants – Gravity gold matte, Optic white and Midnight black pearl. It reportedly costs around ₹50,00,000 and can be booked for ₹1,00,000.
