iFi has grown to be one of the go-to brands when it comes to DACs and amplifiers but its newest device has attempted a completely different approach. The new Uno is not a card game but can be equally enjoyable for all. It is a DAC for everyone which offers higher-quality audio despite its compact size.

The DAC circuitry translates the digital audio into an analogue signal for the listening devices to hear. It is evident that most devices focus more on size and convenience instead of audio quality from this tech, which is why many audiophiles prefer to opt for DACs. The devices focus on higher-quality amplification, allowing you to listen to music at higher bit rates for Hi-Fi streaming.

When we say compact, we mean it. The device can comfortably fit into the palm of your hand (unlike the cards when you forget to say UNO). Perfect for when you are on the go! You can hook up the Uno to most devices thanks to the USB-C connectivity that enables you to plug most laptops, tablets, and smartphones into the DAC. Once connected, you can simply plug headphones or a speaker system into the DAC, and carry on jamming like you usually would. What’s nice too, is that it doesn’t need to be juiced up since it draws power straight from the device it’s connected to.

The Uno packs in Quad DAC+ and Time Domain Jitter Eliminator tech to ensure low distortion, improved clarity, and an impressive range. The dial allows you to adjust analogue gain and preset filters. So now it's on you to find the perfect sound for your ears. The Uno supports PCM audio data to 32-bit/384kHz, alongside DSD up to 11.2MHz, and MQA. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the complex acronyms, it simply is capable of covering the majority of Hi-Fi files you can get your ears on, as well as Hi-Fi streaming from platforms such as Tidal.  Additionally, the device offers various modes for music, movies, or gaming, to select what matches the content best.

So if you are trying to take your first few steps into audiophilia iFi’s Uno is an excellent foray into higher-quality audio for a relatively low price. At £79 (₹7,800 approx.) you should be able to get your hands on one towards the end of the month. Just don’t forget to say…Uno!
