Albert Einstein dedicated his life to his work and not his wardrobe which is probably why his signature wear got cult status and is still reproduced as a limited edition for cognoscente of all things sui generis.

Referring to the very famous Levi Menlo Cossack Jacket that the celebrated physicist donned extensively in the mid-30s. He was also pictured wearing the Cossack on the April 4, 1938 issue of Time Magazine. Now after almost 85 years, Levi’s Vintage Clothing has made a faithful reproduction of the Einstein jacket.

The Levi Strauss & Co. placed the winning bid on the piece at Christie’s Auction House in London in 2016 after which the Levi’s Vintage Clothing team recreated the garment for a limited-edition run.

Notably, the brand also reproduced this jacket in 2018 and a black version of it in 2019 but this time the cognac-tinted calfskin jacket is made in women’s sizing.

The jacket comes in a box featuring an illustration of Einstein smoking a cigar covered in lipstick kiss patterns. There is also a picture of the physicist and a homage to the “#97” Christie’s paddle which won the auction for Einstein’s original leather jacket. There are only 250 pieces of this limited edition jacket, each priced at ¥165,000 JPY (approximately ₹96,905).
