LG has just launched a pair of wireless earbuds with very different target audiences. The first one is the flagship for the average Joe – the Tone Free T90. The other, targeted at fitness freaks and gym rats – the Tone Free Fit TF8.
The flagship buds come with the familiar bacteria-killing UVnano charging case that is capable of doubling as a Bluetooth transmitter. It lets you run an aux cable to devices that might not have wireless connectivity like a treadmill or a really old car or amplifier. This does not restrict the use of the earbuds.
The noise-cancelling T90 buds come with a new internal structure with larger drivers and improved bass. Better still, they support Dolby Head Tracking across your favorite content and devices. The Dolby Head Tracking works by recalibrating the sound as users move their heads, giving a more natural sound experience. This helps the listener feel like they are in the centre of the scene and experience a whole new level of audio immersion while listening to your favourite bops.
The audio virtualizer has been designed by Dolby specifically for these earbuds. It makes for better immersion and dimensionality of the sound. Similar concepts have been included in Beats earbuds and Apple AirPod’s spatial audio feature. The T90 earbuds promise up to nine hours of battery life (with adaptive ANC turned off), and another 18 hours with the charging case.
The new Tone Free Fit (TF8) earbuds like most other workout-focused buds, come with soft, silicone fins to help ensure they remain in your ears comfortably and safely regardless of how much you jump around. They have an IPX7 rating for water resistance and include hybrid ANC to keep you appraised of your surroundings. Unfortunately, we must await the official pricing for these earbuds set to launch in September.
