Have you ever heard of any electric motorcycle with manual gear control? Probably not because there weren’t any in the market. But now, Matter Energy, an Indian-born brand, took the wraps off of their first-of-its-kind geared-electric motorcycle with a four-speed manual gearbox.
It sports a unique propulsion system called matterDrive 1.0. The e-bike’s 10.5kW electric motor paired with the proprietary sequential manual transmission expands the performance range of the drivetrain and provides consistent power delivery, flat torque and efficiency.
There are also a lot of other ‘firsts’ tagged to the e-bike. It's the brand's first vehicle to have a common connector that supports standard and fast charging technology. It has a 1kW Intelligent Charger called matterCharge 1.0 that, as per the brand, can charge the thing in less than 5 hours.
To give riders a connected experience, the e-bike is packed with a 7-inch touch-enabled Vehicle Instrument Cluster, 4G connectivity and Android software which facilitates seamless integration for controls like remote lock/unlock, geofencing, live location tracking, and vehicle health monitoring.
Performance metrics aside, the design of the Matter Energy is much like any standard sports motorcycle. It has sculpted surfaces and prim details. There is a bi-functional LED projector headlamp, split LED tail lamps and a translucent shroud. Plus, it also packs utility elements such as a storage space with built-in lights and a smart mobile charging port.
Too eager to know the price? Well, we can’t tell you. Why? Because the brand hasn’t revealed it yet. The e-bike is expected to hit the market early next year so keep stuffing till then.
