As I sit here, typing away on my clunky, stationary laptop, I can't help but feel a twinge of envy towards the latest technological innovation at MWC 2023: Lenovo’s latest prototype of its rollable laptop that the company showcased at the Mobile World Congress 2023. Yes, you read that correctly. Rollable. Like a fruit roll-up but with more processing power and less artificial colouring.
At first sight, the device can be mistaken as any other ThinkPad but then comes into play the small switch on the right-hand side of the computer's casing. As you press it the display screen begins to extend outward turning the 12.7in screen, which has a 4:3 aspect ratio, into an almost-square 15.3in display with an 8:9 aspect ratio.
Lenovo also assures that this alteration results in an enhanced resolution from 2024x1604 to 2024x2368, rendering it as an option for both office tasks and creative endeavors. The brand also says they are aiming at achieving 20,000 to 30,000 rolls.
However, Lenovo has not disclosed many details about the battery life, weight or the processor used in the device. We can still hope for the concept laptop to see the light of day.
