If a bellowing V8-powered super sedan doesn’t float your newly derived eco-consciousness, Mercedes Benz has just the antidote. Following the top-down approach, Mercedes is bringing the uber-luxurious and the sportiest model in its EQ line-up of all-electric cars to India. Launched for ₹2.45 crore, the EQS53 AMG features a 108kwh battery with an upgraded cooling system and inverter that is capable of generating 762hp and 1020nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via the 4Matic+ system and it also boasts sharper handling due to rear-axle steering. Inside, the massive Hyperscreen makes you feel like your nose is stuck to a 55in OLED display!

With three individual screens for driver, infotainment and passenger, the Hyperscreen runs the latest version of MBUX with Zero Layer design. That’s fancy nomenclature for the most oft-used functions always kept on top, so you don’t need to worry about drilling with your digits just to change the AC temperature. The system has 12 actuators for haptic feedback across the screens that add tactility to the touch functionality, especially while playing the onboard games!

Since it’s an AMG, the emotional quotient was as important as the tech quotient. You get a choice of sound signatures while on the move and the car even emits audio cues during start-up, idling and shutdown. If those sounds don’t excite you, the 15-speaker and 710watt Burmester 3D Surround sound most definitely will. The EQS580 (non AMG) will be manufactured starting next month in India. EQB will be the next EV launch and first ever 7-seater EV for the brand.

The AMG-specific grille slats up front hide an array of radar, LiDAR, cameras and sensors that offer ADAS feature like ADAS like active lane keeping assist, active steering assist, blind spot assist and active emergency stop assist etc. We can’t wait to put all those to the test while sneaking up on the closest non-helmeted serial offender. Look out for our review soon!
