Watch out!

If you are a connoisseur of pens, you might be more than familiar with the German luxury brand Montblanc. What you may not know, is that the company has just added a new smartwatch, the Summit 3 to its portfolio. It’s no cheap affair either, with the timepiece costing a whopping €1,250 (it’s safe to say you'd be able to buy more than a few pens for that price).

The most intriguing thing about it (apart from the price) is that it runs Google’s Wear OS 3. For those of you still in the dark, that’s Google’s latest reworked version of the smartwatch OS, which until now has been exclusive to the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 series. The OS offers more customisation, improved battery life, faster UI response, and improved versions of its in-house apps.

As for the watch itself, it features a grey titanium case with stainless steel bezel, 1.65in screen protected by Sapphire Glass, and is water resistant up to 50 metres.

The watch is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear OS 4100+ chipset, and comes with 1GB of RAM, and 8GB storage. The watch gets the usual bevy of connectivity options like Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi, NFC, and is compatible with smartphones running Android and iOS.

Like those here for the luxury watch, it's evident Montblanc has focussed more on looks, with custom watch faces designed to reflect the company’s heritage in the segment. The smartwatch will be offered in three trims – Titanium Grey and Titanium Black, both sporting leather and blue rubber straps, and the Titanium Bicolor variant which comes with a green calf leather strap or a black rubber strap.
