It’s all about that bass

Sennheiser has grown to be synonymous with expensive, high-quality sound to keep the audiophiles tingling in all the right places. They even have a whole range of cans dedicated to audiophiles – the HD 600 series. With the newest addition to the line, the boom-boom bass has been amplified for a perfectly textured soundtrack. Yes, you guessed it– the HD 660S2 headphones.

Don’t worry,  these latest cans more than make up for Sennheiser’s lack of creativity when it comes to naming new devices, with its superior sound quality. The HD 660S2s' powerful sound is produced by a combination of 42mm dynamic drivers and a 38mm diaphragm. While the design of the headphones' predecessor may have shared some similarities, Sennheiser has made several small but imperative changes. A redesigned coil in the HD 660S2 cans allows for more airflow.

Consequently, the headphones could well go lower than the previous model, which was limited to about 110Hz, to a low of 70Hz. What does this equate to? The headphones should deliver full, deep bass that is ideal for an audiophile's ear. These new Sennheiser headphones have an impedance rating of 300 ohms, therefore you'll need to connect them to a hi-fi adaptor. The new headphones will also provide crisper music with a more audible sound stage thanks to its open-back design. So perhaps avoid wearing them in public, unless, of course, you enjoy being a menace to society and getting confused looks from strangers.

So are you ready to listen to music with audiophile-calibre cans? It will cost you about $599 (₹50,000 approx), so make sure you are ready to commit to the lifestyle. The cans bring with them two 1.8-meter cables that have various adapters on the ends, as well as an extra set of adapters in the package. They'll easily plug into the majority of hi-fi equipment. If you want to safeguard these bad boys from injury, you can always rock the protective pouch, no one is going to judge you (any more than they already do, that is).
