Shazam is already popular for its music recognition capability, and now it has gained a new power. In addition to recognising a song, Shazam will also tell you if there is an upcoming concert where you can hear it live.
The info about these concerts is available via a dedicated page on Shazam’s websites, as well as the Android and iOS apps. Users can simply head over to the artist’s page for concert details like time and venue, and even mark the dates on their own calendar.
As for the source of the information, it is Bandsintown, a music event platform used by artists, event managers and fans alike. The platform is currently used by over 68 million fans, and 5,60,000 artists, managers, labels and booking agents.
The process of adding concert and tour-related info to the artists’ pages is quite straightforward too. All they need to do is update their Bandsintown profile, and Shazam will automatically pull the data.
"Shazam has a long history of innovation in music discovery and connecting artists and fans," Oliver Schusser, Apple’s vice president of Apple Music and Beats, says. "With the reemergence of live music, we’re excited to give Shazam users access to concerts and bring even more discoverability to artists."
