Suzuki has just launched its third 'big bike' in the Indian market, dubbed the Katana. It is a retro-styled litre-class bike priced at ₹13.61 lakh (ex-showroom). Drawing inspiration from its 1980s predecessor, the bike has managed to incorporate modern machinery in the form of an inline-four engine configuration.

The Katana is powered by a liquid-cooled, 999cc, inline-four cylinder engine derived from the legendary K5 GSXR-1000. Capable of making 152hp at 11,000rpm and 106Nm at 9,250rpm, the engine has been equipped with new camshafts and valve springs. Alongside these upgrades, the bike sees updates to the exhaust system and airbox.

On this bike, we can see contributions from Kayaba in the form of a fully-adjustable front fork and an adjustable mono-shock for preload and rebound damping. The bike also sports twin radially mounted Brembo callipers that clamp down on 310mm discs at the front, while the transmission duties are taken care of by a 6-speed gearbox.

When it comes to rider aids, the Katana comes with a bi-directional quick-shifter, five levels of traction control with an option to switch it off completely and three throttle maps to manage the engine’s power delivery. All these features can be controlled via the LED Display.

The bike comes with additional features like Suzuki’s low-RPM assist, and  Suzuki’s Easy Start System. The Katana will be available in two colour options–Metallic Matt Stellar Blue and Metallic Mystic Silver.
