The Swiss don’t need lessons on watchmaking, no Sir. But they could do with some tips on how to make successful smartwatches from the tech giants. While they’ve been  in the connected watch business since a few years, admittedly, battery life has been a huge cause of concern. To tackle the problem head on, Tag Heuer is offering a battery replacement service for any of its Connected series watches made after 2020 and the support will last for five years. But, they’ve also announced an all-new Connected model, the Calibre E4 which will be available in two sizes, 45mm and 42mm.
To up the premium quotient, the Calibre E4 will come with a standard stainless steel or titanium case, with stainless steel, leather or sport rubber straps as options. Battery life has seen a 30% bump over the previous generation, as has functionality too. Although it runs on Google Wear OS 2, it is compatible with both iPhones and Android. New watch faces include an animated visual of time called Riverside and the health based Wellness, which shows real-time heart-rate and step count info.
Tag Heuer has also updated its Sport app with multiple workout routines, including a built-in 7-min workout program for an instant start. The 42mm version will start retailing for about 1,36,000 (US$ 1800) and 1,55,000 (US$ 2050) for the 45mm model.
