My favourite iPad just got a spec bump. Yup, I am talking about the new iPad Mini that comes with the A17 Pro chip, the same one found in the iPhone 15 Pro models of 2023. That should ideally give the new Mini a massive performance boost with better CPU and GPU performance. Although, Apple is gearing this one up for magic of Apple Intelligence too.

The A17 Pro chip delivers a 30% faster CPU and 25% faster GPU compared to the previous generation which launched in 2021. Plonking a year old iPhone chip is still serious firepower under the hood. It means you can blaze through demanding tasks like photo editing, gaming, and augmented reality experiences without breaking a sweat. And there’s update to the RAM as well which Apple won’t disclose yet but we know it’s to power the features of Apple Intelligence, the new AI system that's baked right into iPadOS 18.

The iPad Mini with A17 Pro also supports the new Apple Pencil Pro and the USB-C port is now up to 2x faster than the previous generation, with data transfers up to 10Gbps. Apple has also booted the Nano SIM tray in favour of eSIM. The rest of it stays pretty much the same as last time. You get the stunning 8.3-inch Liquid Retina display and a 12MP wide back camera that can intelligently scan documents, take HDR photos and 4K videos.

The new iPad mini starts at Rs. 49,900 and comes in four colors: blue, purple, starlight, and space gray. You can pre-order yours today, with availability beginning Wednesday, October 23.
