Can’t convince your family to let you have an Xbox? With Microsoft set to launch its Xbox TV app later this month, you may not have to. The Xbox TV application allows Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers to access more than 100 games on Samsung’s 2022 smart TVs simply by streaming through the cloud.

Starting by bringing the Xbox App to Samsung Smart TVs first, Xbox intends to explore other TV partnerships as the next step. It works much like Netflix and Youtube. The Xbox TV app will be available on the Samsung gaming hub. You just have to simply log into your Microsoft account in the app and stream Xbox games just like you would through Xbox Cloud Gaming in a browser.

When it comes to controllers, Xbox isn't fussy with support for various Bluetooth-enabled controllers like the Xbox Wireless Controller, Xbox Adaptive Controller, Elite Series 2 Controller, or the PS5 w34DualSense controller. The only real downside is that Microsoft isn’t bumping up its streaming resolution to 4K, so games will be limited to 1080p streaming at 60fps.

Originally announced last year, the Xbox TV app is the first step and a big milestone for Microsoft’s Xbox Cloud Gaming and Game Pass ambitions, with this rollout paving the way to make it easier than ever to play games on the devices you already own. So dive in, you don't need much to enjoy a quality gaming experience, especially not a chunky console.
