Saying that the Maybach S-Class is the epitome of luxury and tech is as true as the air we breathe. So you can imagine the excitement among the top one percent in our country, when Mercedes announces the latest Maybach. Speaking of which, the 2022 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class has launched in India, and its prices start from ₹2.50 crore (ex-showroom).
The biggest difference over the ‘standard’ S-Class is the stretched out wheelbase, which at 5.7 metres, is almost a third of a Cricket pitch. And then there’s the unmissable trademark vertical louvred Maybach grille.
It’s not just the exteriors that scream money, and the interiors too are bathed in luxury and technology. Listing out all the tech onboard will need as many pages as in a magazine. Some of the noteworthy features include a panoramic sunroof, gesture support for closing the rear doors and controlling lights, reclining rear seats with massage, ventilated seats, infotainment systems for rear passengers, 360 degree cameras with park assist, a 30 speaker 1,750W Burmester 4D sound system with active noise cancellation, and much more.
Under the hood are two engine options. The S580 gets a 4.0L V8 producing 503hp and 700Nm of torque, and a mild-hybrid system onboard pushes out an additional 20hp and 200Nm. The S680 gets a 6.0L V12 producing 612hp and 900Nm of torque. Both engines are mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox.
The car is also equipped with level 2 autonomous tech, which includes aids like evasive steering, autonomous emergency braking, lane keep, lane change assist, and more.
The luxurious house on wheels will be available in two variants. The S580 is locally assembled and is priced at ₹2.50 crore. The more expensive S680 comes to our shores as CBU and is priced at ₹3.20 crore (ex-showroom).
