Apple CarPlay wants to make your instrument cluster customisable

Big changes headed your way

We hope you are ready for the drastic changes headed your way with the new Apple CarPlay. In an attempt to fundamentally change the way people interact with their vehicles, the next generation of CarPlay takes it a step further by deeply integrating with a car’s hardware.

CarPlay is aiming to provide a unified and consistent experience by displaying content across multiple screens within the vehicle. This deeper integration with the vehicle enables users to control the radio, set directions or even change the climate settings directly through CarPlay. For those of you who aren't gearheads or aren't too familiar with the internal workings of your car, CarPlay will be able to give you a clear lowdown on speed, fuel level, temperature, and more on the instrument cluster by using the vehicle data.

Featuring a design similar to Apple’s many products, CarPlay now allows users to personalize their driving experience by choosing from a selection of different gauge cluster designs, and with added support for widgets, users don't need to strain their necks since it's all displayed right on their car’s dashboard. So cars are getting widgets too, eh? The new Apple CarPlay is set to be launched in 2023.
