We’ll be honest. If we start to note down every inch of the ROG Phone 5s it will take one full day for you to get through all its features, its little percentages of corrections to cooling and display and the mind-numbing list of features that are tailor-made for gamers. We can say that with certainty because firstly, we have the damn thing in our hands and secondly the press release Asus sent out mentioned the word ‘game’ and ‘gamers’ collectively about 50 times.
So, while you wait for our full review of the ROG Phone 5s, here’s a little snippet of what to expect from the Asus’ latest gaming smartphone. Although, at this point, it feels more like a handheld gaming device that can accidentally make calls and probably let you waste time on TikTok and Reels.
You have options between the Asus ROG Phone 5s and 5s Pro. Both models improve from the standard ROG Phone 5 with a newer processor and faster touch sampling rate. Both the 5s and 5s Pro come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ at 3GHz and a 360Hz touch sampling rate. These itty bitty upgrades under the hood also come with RAM and storage options. The ROG Phone 5s (8GB/128GB) is priced at ₹49,999 and the 12GB/256GB goes for ₹57,999. The ROG Phone 5s Pro gets one option of 18GB/512GB for ₹79,999.
The 5s Pro exclusively gets a back display with RGB lighting that you can customise. It’s like the Asus ROG laptops and with the Pro, others can know that you’re a gamer even without asking you. But the party is always in the front. Both smartphone variants have a jaw-dropping 6.78in AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate and a 1ms of response time. And the iconic dual front-facing speakers are here too. There’s a 6,000mAh battery as well with a bundled 30W fast charger. It’s got all the cooling gizmo and other accessories to go with it but for more on the performance, you’ll have to wait for our full review. It's got a camera too but who cares?
