When it comes to luxury watchmaking, you don’t often see anything particularly radical or out of the blue (apart from the prices). With that in mind, the horologists at Audemars Piguet have decided to test their creativity bringing something new to their longstanding traditions with the Royal Oak Offshore Music Edition.
In lieu of the Royal Oak’s 50th anniversary, the Swiss manufacturer has taken a step in the opposite direction compared to their previous collections. Celebrating the love of music with these peppy and fun, new timepieces.
This collection of watches come in 37mm and 43mm case options and are paired with rubber straps available in blue or black and turquoise, yellow and green. Using titanium AP pin buckles, the waffle-shaped design tapestry dial takes centre stage.
Designed to mimic the active sound levels on a music equalizer, they have meticulously arranged rainbow colours on the lower half of the dial. Even the strap studs have a knurled texture to replicate the jack pugs with the crown guards looking like the mixing console faders.
The timepiece itself features new time-only 4Hz automatic movements. The 37mm and 43mm versions get the Calibre 5909 and Calibre 4309 movements respectively. With power ratings of 60 and 70 hours each, both these timepieces will be limited to just 500 pieces.
The 37mm variant is priced at £24,600 (₹23 lakh approx), while the 43mm variant is priced at £26,700 (₹25 lakh approx).Their even more exclusive Black Ceramic timepiece is priced at a whopping £34,100 (₹33 lakh approx).
