Breitling Unveils a Trio of Premier B21 Chronograph Tourbillon 42 watches

Homage in the finest form…

While the Breitling name has grown to be associated primarily with purpose-driven tool watches, the brand has strayed a bit onto the more refined side of things with its newest trio of watches. Originally conceived during the height of World War II by Willy Breitling himself and officially launched in 1943, the Premier collection was the first significant step away from the various utilitarian timepieces, primarily used by pilots and engineers at the time.

The newest addition from Breitling is the Premier B21 Chronograph Tourbillon 42 series, made up of a trio of ultra-premium chronographs with precious metal cases. Each pays homage to a different one of Breitling’s founding fathers.

The first in the lineup is named after the company’s original founder, Léon Breitling. This model will feature a solid 18k red-gold case with a silver dial and brown alligator strap that features a matching red-gold fold-over clasp.

On the other hand, the Gaston Breitling version, named after Léon’s son, swaps out the red-gold case for 18k white gold. It sports an anthracite dial and a black alligator strap fitted with a clasp made from white gold, too.

Lastly, the version is named after Willy Breitling, the third generation of the family, Gaston’s son who was responsible for bringing the Premier collection to life. He ain’t no common lad, so he gets nothing but the best in the form of a solid platinum case with an admiral blue dial and the same black alligator strap that appears on the Gaston Breitling edition.

While they may be dressed up a bit differently, all three of the new Breitling Premier B21 Chronograph Tourbillon 42 watches feature the same overall case design with a round profile and signature rectangular chronograph pushers. The cases are all 42mm in diameter and 15.25mm thick, with 22mm lugs and an overall lug-to-lug distance of 50.03mm. Powering all three versions is the brand’s Caliber B21 automatic movement, which has been produced in collaboration with the famous Swiss movement manufacturer La Joux-Perret. Offering a frequency of 28,800vph (4Hz) and a power reserve of approximately 55 hours, the Breitling Cal. B21 features a column wheel-controlled design.

Both the gold Léon and Gaston are priced at $57,000 (approximately ₹45 lakh) while the platinum Willy Breitling edition is priced at a cool $67,000 (53 lakh approx.). The number of models produced will be capped so hurry on over if you want to get your hands on these beauties.
