Canon EOS R8 and EOS R50 unveiled in India

Cause you can be a vlogger too!

When it comes to photography, you can never forget Canon. These two new additions to the portfolio are meant for vloggers and social media influencers. So if that sounds like you, do stick around to know more. The EOS R8 and the ESO R50 are set to debut in India shortly. While the EOS R8 full-frame camera is more suited for amateur photographers and videographers with the capability for high-quality video and still shooting, the EOS R50 is an entry-level mirrorless camera meant for vlogging.

The lightweight full-frame EOS R8 has a 24.2MP CMOS sensor that can oversample 6K source footage to 4K at 60 frames per second. It can record Full HD slow-motion videos and also brings Movie Digital IS support for shake-free, steadier handheld recording. It can perform tilt corrections and 5-axis image stabilisation, eliminating the need for OIS-enabled lenses. In addition to the 8-bit format, the cam even supports 10-bit 4:2:2 high dynamic range video recording. There's also HDR PQ Video and Canon Log 3 support for improved colours, especially during post-processing.

Other interesting cinematic features on the device include focus breathing correction, exposure adjustment and setting, aspect marker display, and UVC (USB Video Class)/UAC (USB Audio Class) support. A Multi-function Shoe feature allows for a cordless digital setup with compatible accessories to be interfaced. As for focus, the camera packs Dual Pixel CMOS AF II technology, which was previously featured on the EOS R6 Mark II. Additionally, in less than 0.03 seconds, the EOS iTR AF X system detects, locks, and acquires focus on the subject.

As for the Canon EOS R50 that packs on a 24.2MP APS-C Format Image Sensor, the cam can provide oversampled uncropped 4K output from 6K worth of data. It weighs just 375 grams since it is designed for vloggers. The support for Movie IS (with Enhanced and On levels) brings stability to those endless selfies too! You get an auto-level mode for the correction of the horizontal tilt in those turbulent moments.

With a USB cable for live streaming and compatibility with the Camera Connect app, transferring data to your smartphones via WiFi or USB-C should be a breeze. Lastly, the mirrorless camera comes with features like Advanced A+, Creative Bracket, and Subject Blur guide.

The R8 will debut alongside the new RF24-50mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM and RF-S55-210mm f/5-7.1 IS STM lenses, while the R50 comes with two kit options– the RF-S18-45mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM telephoto lens, or with the RF-S18-45mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM and RF-S55-210mm f/5-7.1 IS STM lenses. The prices shall be revealed soon, so stay tuned…
