CES 2023: Acer’s new Predator monitor is a bright and curvy OLED

Can you put a price on a predator though?

What's the first thing that pops in your head when you hear the term predator? A large felis leo with a tawny coat sitting on top of the food chain? Or maybe the Arnold Schwarzenegger starrer sci-fi franchise, whatever it may be but the term sure won’t bring the image of a computer to your head. However, now Acer has embarked on a journey to change the context with their new range of Predator monitors.

Predator Monitors, the X45 and X27U gaming monitors have OLED displays. The 45in UWQHD (3440x1440) Predator X45 is an 800R curved monitor with an ultra-wide, narrow frame that expands the field of vision. It supports 98.5% of the DCI-P3 colour gamut and has DisplayPort 1.4 and two HDMI 2.0 ports, it supports both PCs and consoles and is also TÜV Rheinland EyeSafe certified. The Predator X45 has an OLED panel with HDR10 and a peak brightness of 1000 nits. It sits on an adjustable metal stand with a sleek metal base to keep the large monitor stable.

The Predator X27U, on the other hand, has a flat 27in WQHD (2560x1440) panel with 98.5% DCI-P3 coverage. The TÜV Rheinland EyeSafe-certified monitor also has a peak brightness of 1000 nits and HDR10 capabilities. Both the variants have 240Hz refresh rates and 0.01 ms pixel response time combined with AMD FreeSync Premium technology.

The Predator X45 will come at $1,699 (₹1,39,896) and the Predator X27U $1,099 (₹90,493).

The brand has also introduced the new Acer Aspire S, an all-in-one PCs in 27in and 32in models. Unlike the Predator series, this range is designed with a focus on everyday usage i.e. computing as well as entertainment. The 32-inch version comes with up to 13th Gen Intel Core i7-13700 desktop processors and Intel Arc A-Series Graphics, while the 27-inch model is powered by the 12th Gen Intel Core i5 and i7 processors and Intel Iris Xe Graphics. The brand ensures that multi-tasking with these devices is a pleasure in itself.

The Aspire S range boasts a sleek aluminium chassis, with a tiltable display so that you can adjust the screen instead of fixing your viewing angle. Both the monitors have near-borderless WQHD displays and dual speakers with DTS Surround sound audio. There is also a  magnetically mounted 1080p FHD webcam and an optional 1440p QHD webcam with a ring light accessory. You can also have password-free biometric security for easier access, courtesy of Acer EyeSense facial recognition software and Windows Hello fingerprint reader.

As for price, the 27in Aspire S comes at $1,199 (₹98,748) and the 32in Aspire S comes at a price of $1,699 (₹1,39,938).
