Ducati’s Scrambler sub-brand has evolved over the years to arguably become the company’s saving grace in the modern era. This is seen in its creation of a lineup of apparel, gear and luggage to match the bikes in the range. The retro-inspired styling with its macho character showcases the more rugged side of Ducati as seen in its latest folding e-bikes – the SCR-X and SCR-E GT.
This eco-friendly range of e-bikes features two new models, both equipped with a 48V electric motor and 60 Nm of peak torque. The Shimano Tourney 7-speed gearbox allows for better gear optimization in different riding conditions. The bikes sport a waterproof LCD display to track vital information including speed, battery charge, and assist level. While the aluminium frame allows for easy folding so you can pack up your bike in the boot of a standard hatchback or SUV.
The SCR-X is the standard model with 20 x 4.0in road tires, a traditional telescopic front suspension, and an inbuilt rear rack with a rating of 25kgs. When fully charged, the removable battery has a 499 Wh capacity providing a range of up to 8kms or 50 miles. As one would expect, this Ducati comes with a blistering top speed of 25kph.
The SCR-E GT is a slightly higher-end model. While having the same wheel size, it comes fitted with Knobby tires, allowing you to be more adventurous with the terrain. Additionally, this model comes with a more robust frame with front and rear suspension supports. The larger 614 Wh battery makes it capable enough to lug around that excess weight (in case you fall victim to a few too many snackcidents). It does, however, maintain the same 80 km range and top speed.
There is no word yet on the pricing, but you should find it on the Ducati website in mid-July.
