If you thought Garmin’s celebrations stopped with the Venu 2 Plus, you are quite mistaken. The company has brought us a couple more products to appreciate, these are more –geared– towards Pro cyclists. The Edge 530 and 830 are bike computers that go way beyond data collection.
The Edge 530 (₹40,990) provides dynamic performance insights to help you on the journey to constantly better yourself. So whether you are training for an ironman or TDF or simply on your daily commute, this device will accompany you and ensure your safety is prioritized. When it comes to group training, the device enables group messaging and tracking, so you can keep in touch with the rest of your pack even when separated. Best of all, the device has an incident detection feature (much like the new Apple devices) which automatically sends your location to emergency contacts if it detects an incident. Since we’d all rather be safe than sorry, the Edge 530 comes with the Varia rearview radar and lights to help you see and be seen.
The Edge 830 (₹55,990) Bundle is slightly more advanced and comes with preloaded features like turn-by-turn directions and navigation alerts to notify you of upcoming turns. It even sports a bright, responsive touchscreen that helps you create new rides and courses directly on the Edge device. In foreign areas, you can ride like a local thanks to the popularity routing feature that chooses from the roads and trails most travelled by fellow cyclists. The Edge 830 is thankfully smart enough to guide you back to the route or back to start if you deviate from it or decide to call it a day early. Because thanks to digital maps these days we are all directionally challenged.
