Running companions

It may not be the best weather to be out running, but that isn't stopping Garmin from launching a couple of smartwatches that are targeted at runners. The Forerunner  955 and Forerunner 255 watches come with some features that are helpful for atheletes, a touchscreen interface, and even solar charging for potentially unlimited battery life.

Each watch comes with slightly varied features, with the top-of-the-line Forerunner 955, available in regular and solar models. Both sport a touchscreen with Garmin’s signature five-button design, and come equipped with multi-band GPS tracking. Also included are full-colour maps with improved accuracy, and a 49 hours battery life in GPS mode. The Solar variant has the capability to boost battery life to about 20 days using the Power Glass solar charging lens technology.

The other part of the lineup features the more petite Forerunner 255 models which are 5mm smaller. The smaller size and lack of touchscreen are the only major differences when compared to the 955. Packing in 14-day battery life with up to 30 hours in GPS mode, both the 255 Music and 255s music are capable of storing up to 500 songs and streaming music easily.

The wearables all come with “Morning Report and Training Readiness features that provide you with personalised workouts and gauge your capacity to exercise respectively. The watches also track your HRV status alongside the usual sleep and SPO2 tracking.

You can now yourself a new training companion with prices starting from ₹37,490 (Forerunner 255), and going up to ₹63,990 (Forerunner 955 Solar).
