Google TV Streamer set-top box is Google’s next-gen streaming player

more powerful streaming player?

Ditching the chrome stick? Google is revamping its streaming device with a new design and name, the ‘Google TV Streamer’. Gone is the familiar Chromecast dongle, replaced by a boxy set-top called the "Google TV Streamer", marking a significant shift in Google's streaming lineup, as per 9to5Google.

We have already told you that Google's next hardware event in August is shaping up to be a big one. A part of the show might be a brand-new streaming device. If reports are to be believed, it will have a whole new design, ditching the classic Chromecast dongle for a set-top box. Expect a sleek, slanted design that complements Google's recent hardware aesthetic. The remote gets a revamp too, with a longer build and convenient volume controls added to the face. Whether this translates to a spec bump or stays budget-friendly at Google's usual price tag remains to be seen, but we'll know for sure in a few short weeks.
