Instagram seems to be taking a page out of TikTok’s user interface manual, with its new mission to create a full-screen experience for its feed. In an attempt to make content more “discoverable and immersive” on its platform with this new full-screen experience, Instagram will begin testing the feature on select audiences.
The new version of the feed, similar to the TikTok feed, will feature videos in full screen mode with plans to update the navigation bar. Although the navigation bar will continue to appear at the bottom, the description, comment, like, and other buttons will float alongside the Instagram logo, over the video. Additionally, to get the real full screen feeling, the time, battery, and cellular info will also float above the content on the top.
Ever since the success of Reels in India, it’s quite evident that Instagram is focussing more on videos, as seen with these new layout and interface updates in the works. That being said Meta and Zuckerberg are looking to keep photos relevant on this platform, honouring its roots.
