Intel’s latest NUC 13 Extreme ‘Raptor Canyon’ is sizable and can accommodate a 3-slot full-size GPU card

The bigger, the better?

From their NUC business line to the extreme line, Intel has made some really powerful mini PCs over the past decade. The latest NUC 13 Extreme or Raptor Canyon (code name) is referred to as the most powerful Intel NUC ever made by the brand.

It is built around an all-new compute element in a comparatively larger size. As per the brand, the ultra-compact form factor profile has been ditched to accommodate flagship CPUs and GPUs.

In place of the 8-litre case in NUC 12 Extreme, the new model comes with a 13.9-litre case which can accommodate a 3-slot full-size GPU card now. Plus, the 12in graphics card promises enhanced performance for gaming enthusiasts and content creators.

The compute unit is stacked on top of the GPU and both are connected to a small motherboard. The NUC 13 Extreme has the full-fat 13th gen Intel core processor and will support up to i9 K desktop processors with up to 64 GB of DDR5 RAM. There are two 120 mm fans on the back panel for keeping the thing cool.

The Intel NUC 13 Extreme is expected to be available first in China, then a wider release through early 2023. Prices for the Intel NUC 13 Extreme Kit will range from $1179 to $1549 (around ₹95,9580-₹1,26,061) and $760 to $1100 (around ₹61,850-₹89,520) for the Intel NUC 13 Extreme Compute Element depending on the configuration.
