When it comes to this new technological wonder, the question is not can you afford it but are you worthy? Since there are few activities more enjoyable than a good bowel movement, Kohler has stepped into the matter to make this a truly enlightening experience.
While most consider this time of day their alone time, Kohler’s Numi 2.0 Smart Toilet brings you a companion in the form of Alexa to keep your boredom at bay. And yes, Alexa is inside the toilet and listening to your delightful symphonies. But don’t worry she isn’t one to judge.
So now that you have the music and company, there is only one thing missing to make it a true party of epic proportions…lights. The toilet has several LED lights in addition to speakers built-in. But that’s not all. It packs in everything you could expect from a fancy loo. This includes a bidet that can wash from both the front and the back, UV lights for cleaning the bidet, and complete control over the temperature, position and pressure of the bidet.
The bowl itself automatically gets misted to minimize any residue. Other perks include auto flushing, auto deodorizing, a heated seat, an air dryer for your nether regions. It even has an emergency backup flush for… when one would assume you have really gone to town?
Most importantly, for anyone who has been unfortunate enough to live with someone who leaves the lid up — it has a lid that automatically opens and closes. You can control all these fancy features with a handheld remote (which you’ll have to clean yourself). The surround sound and LEDs can be operated via the Kohler Konnect app. That said, the brand hasn’t revealed much when it comes to support for Matter, so beyond interoperability with Alexa, you’ll have to get ingenious if you want this toilet to work with other smart home systems and their automation.
For now, this device has begun being installed in American homes for about $11,500 (approximately ₹9.5 lakh). It should hopefully make its way to India soon enough, but let’s be honest the West needs the bidets more than us.
