Known more for being closer to the road than adding inches between the seat of your pants and the asphalt, Lotus is making the bold move into the inevitable world of SUVs. But, in typical Lotus fashion, the new Eletre is shaped by the wind, with emphasis on the brand’s core performance traits. So ride, handling and light weight are the key areas where the engineers focused. But, it is also the most feature (and future) loaded Lotus ever. Hence, it gets the most advanced active aerodynamics package of any production car, and also enjoys a “peacock moment” as you get closer to the car. That’s when the active front grille breathes, headlights go through a sequence and the illuminated flush door handles deploy.
The headlines literally write themselves here. The Eletre is LiDAR equipped with 5G connectivity for future autonomous driving aids, three different cameras instead of ORVMs to monitor active traffic or aid in 360-degree parking view and a 100kWh battery that promises 600bhp and 600km of range! With all that power and reduced weight, the Eletre also joins the sub-3 sec supercar club for a 0-100kmph time.
