Maserati zips into the EV era with the Grecale Folgore

Big battery and oodles of torque

Italian luxury automaker Maserati is the latest to enter the EV space, and its contender is the Grecale ‘Folgore’ – Italian for ‘lightning’. This luxury EV has been unveiled alongside the Grecale ICE variants, and share the same design language, albeit with a bunch of electric flavours.
The Grecale design is inspired by Maserati’s Levante lineup. You get the Maserati trident logo sitting atop a partially closed grille, the Folgore brand name on the front wing, boomerang tail lights, aero-styled wheels, and more.
The Folgore sits on its own EV platform, which is a modified version of the Giorgio platform also used by the Alfa Romeo Stelvio. While a lot of details are under wraps, we do know that the Folgore gets its power from a 105 kWh battery pack producing 800Nm of peak torque. It also comes with a 400-volt architecture, but details about the charging, driving range, etc are not known at the moment.
On the inside, there’s an infotainment system powered by Maserati’s intelligent multimedia system, and a Sonus 3D sound system that includes up to 21 speakers.
Maserati hasn’t revealed the pricing details yet, which should be unveiled closer to the launch in 2023.
