MWC 2023: The OnePlus Concept 11 smartphone is pretty cool

The future sure looks cool!

In lieu of the Mobile World Congress 2023 in Barcelona, the OnePlus Concept 11 smartphone has been formally launched. Not too long after the OnePlus 11 5G, which was announced earlier this month in India and internationally, this concept builds off the phone to reveal some interesting new steps in mobile technology.

An active cooling technology called Active CryoFlux is included in the forthcoming OnePlus device. This serves to lower the temperature of the device by up to 2.1°C. The method should help increase game frame rates by 3–4 fps and reduce the phone's temperature by 1.6°C while it charges, cutting the charging time in half to a third.

Ready for some intense words? The industrial-grade ceramic piezoelectric micropumps that power this Active CryoFlux are located in the centre and are linked to pipelines that are encased in an upper and lower diaphragm. This liquid can move around the pipelines thanks to the tiny micropump, which keeps the weight and thickness of a phone relatively low. Complicated and sciencey…

Essentially, in not-so-complex words, the goal of this OnePlus 11 Concept is to help showcase the potential of Active CryoFlux without taking away from aesthetics. The glass unibody of the OnePlus Concept 11 has a deep curve for a thinner bezel and a side height of 5.04mm, giving it a sort of alien-futuristic look.

A magnetron-spluttering coating (no, we aren’t talking about Transformers), in which metal and alloy are deposited in extremely minute quantities onto the case with the aid of an electric field, completes the device and also lets you see the micro liquid running through the pipelines through a clear rear cover. Some would say it’s kind of derivative of the Nothing phone (1), but hey, you can’t deny it is creative! The camera lens shares the same look. A halo of ice-cold Active CryoFlux liquid flows through the camera, and Guilloché etching surrounds the lens area. So it’s pretty cool, to say the least… (pardon the pun!)
