Nikkor Z is Nikon’s slimmest and lightest lens

Small size big performance

A good camera is as good as its lens, imagine the brilliance when the lens in question is Nikon’s slimmest and lightest creation to date. We speak about the latest Nikkor Z 26mm f/2.8.

The Nikkor Z 26mm f/2.8 is the slimmest and lightest full-frame FX- format lens in the Z series of lenses offered by the veteran manufacturer. It is 70mm (D) x 23.5mm (L) in dimension and weighs just 125g making it less cumbersome to shoot with and carry around.  There's also a dedicated lens hood that helps retain the slim design of the lens while protecting the protruded parts. Filter lovers can also attach a 52mm filter to the lens hood for further creativity.

The lens also features a non-retractable barrel design which allows you to start capturing immediately without having to extend the lens. Measuring no bigger than an average credit card, the pancake lens shouldn’t be undermined for its size, as we know how the old saying goes about big things coming in… The new lens has an all-element focusing system with an effective arrangement of three aspherical lens elements that further contribute to minimising aberrations while maintaining optical performance. As per the brand, its 26mm focal length provides a versatile angle of view to capture dynamic images of various everyday perspectives such as streets, cityscapes, landscapes, architecture, and portraits.

Whether shooting handheld or in low-light situations, the lens’ bright maximum aperture of f/2.8 provides flexibility to capture sharp images by minimising camera shake with a potentially faster shutter speed. It's useful for capturing portrait shots with bokeh, with the f/2.8 brightness and depth of field. And, autofocus control is delivered by a stepping motor (STM), while focus adjustment is realised by a control ring. The Nikkor Z 26mm f/2.8 lens is priced at ₹46,495 and will be available to purchase from the last week of February.
