Redmi K50i 5G marks the return of the K-series

Flagship-like features at mid-range prices

When it comes to the mid-range smartphone segment, the formula that works is to offer as many features as possible while keeping the pricing down. Xiaomi sub-brand Redmi has stuck with this formula, and has launched its latest smartphone called the Redmi K50i.

Sporting a 6.6in full HD+ liquid FFS display, this phone becomes the first Redmi device to support Dolby Vision. With 100% DCI-P3 gamut coverage alongside support for 1 Billion colours, the phone comes with a whopping 144Hz seven-stage adaptive refresh rate.

For performance, there’s a MediaTek Dimensity 8100 chip under the hood along with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. It even packs in a 5,080mAh battery bundled with a 67W Turbo Charger that is capable of fully charging the phone in just 46 minutes. On the cooling front, the phone uses LiquidCool 2.0, which features a seven-layer graphite sheet to ensure the hefty tasks don't cause it to overheat.

The company has further packed in Dolby Atmos, as well as Hi-Res wired and wireless audio to ensure auditory standards are high, even if the price isn’t (even audiophiles won't be left disappointed).

The smartphone packs in a triple camera setup with a flagship level 64MP main sensor and 8MP ultrawide lens for a wider perspective. The handset runs Android 12-based MIUI 13, and is rated IP53.

The Redmi K50i 5G is priced at ₹25,999 (6GB RAM + 128 GB storage) and ₹28,999 (8GB RAM + 256GB storage). There are three colour options to choose from – Quick Silver, Stealth Black and Phantom Blue. Alongside the Redmi smartphone, we also saw the launch of the Redmi Buds 3 Lite (₹1,999).
