Shure Aonic range additions

Aonic Free and Aonic 40 go on sale today

After more than 95 years of being in business, you can’t argue about Shure’s reputation as a manufacturer of some pretty legendary professional and consumer audio products. Harnessing a lot of those learnings into something as tiny as the Aonic Free (15,999) wasn’t an accident.

The studio-grade in-ears are the TWS variety and instead of going in for full-blown active noise cancellation, Shure has stuck to the passive route, ensuring that the Aonic Free fit in your ears like a boxing glove on Rocky’s hand. Of the three different sizes of foam tips that are included, you’re bound to find the one that’s right and the seal is pretty snug indeed. It does trick you into thinking there is ANC at work but no, it is what Shure calls Sound Isolating tech.  It also helps in extending the battery of the Aonic Free to a total of 21hrs with 7hrs per charge cycle use. Controls on both L/R earbuds can be customised for basic functions.

What Shure has included is control over how much environmental sound you want seeping in. The accompanying ShurePlus PLAY app offers preset EQ curves to alter the tonal balance and you can even manually take granular control of the frequencies. Bluetooth 5.0 is what it works on and support for Qualcomm Apt-X, SBC and AAC is provided.

For fans of large, over-ear cans, the Aonic 40 (19,999) adds active noise cancellation, even better battery life (25hrs) and Apt-X HD support to the feature set. Both the models will be available on Amazon and Headphone Zone starting today. Our review samples are in so expect them to be given a complete shakedown soon!
