Sony’s Alpha 7 IV crams a new sensor with more megapixels

Its got bird eye-tracking too

Hear ye, hear ye! The Sony Alpha 7 IV comes with a rapid autofocus (AF) performance and with real-time tracking that is 30% faster than the Alpha 7 III. What are we tracking you ask? Well of course the birds. The hybrid autofocus uses phase-detection and contrast-detection and then a dollop of AI recognition to catch the sparkle in your eyes at lightning speeds.

Speed is not only limited to tracking and autofocus. The new 33MP Exmor R CMOS image sensor produces better colour, lower noise in low-light and captures a wider dynamic range. There’s also the  Bionz XR processor for faster image processing and better compression.

In the video department, the Alpha 7 IV can record in 10-bit depth and 4:2:2 colour sampling. It also takes the full-frame data at 7K oversampling for clearer 4K footage. There’s a lot happening under the hood as well. Although, that’s to be expected from a ₹2,42,490 camera (body only). It’ll be available starting today.
