Spotify’s redesigned app looks like TikTok

Find your favourite tunes as you walk in the park

Ahoy music lovers: Spotify just unleashed a redesigned interface for its mobile app. The new look comes under what is touted as the biggest app evolution yet and gives the home screen a vertical scrolling design meant to look more dynamic, with animated images, video clips and audio previews, somewhat similar to Tik Tok and Instagram.

As per Spotify, the update that was announced at its Stream On event in Los Angeles aims at facilitating deeper discovery and more meaningful connections between artists and fans. The new interface will give listeners a more active role in the audio discovery process and creators more space to share their work.

The resigned app will have music, podcasts and shows along with audiobook previews on Home. So you just have to tap into the category of choice to explore visual and audio previews personalised to you. There are also new feeds for discovery in search. You can scroll up or down to explore short Canvas clips from tracks, then save the song to a playlist, follow the artist, or share it with friends—all from one place. You can also explore related genres using the hashtags within the feed for easy discovery of new favourites.
