Supersized ULED TV by Hisense seen in the wild

98inch 4K smart TV takes the fight to projectors

Like with most things these days, big news emerge from China first. But thankfully, this is good news for cinephiles who don’t take small for an answer. Hisense has just announced its first ever mammoth 98in Smart TV, the 98E7G Pro which is based around hybrid tech that uses a BOE ADS screen module but with Hisense’s own backlight controller. In simple terms, the screen is divided into 256 different zones so each zone can be better controlled for brightness and colour output.

Boasting of 4K resolution, 120Hz refresh rate and 90% of the DCI-P3 colour space, the 98E7G Pro is targeted at both video connoisseurs and compulsive gamers with features like IMAX-Enhanced aspect ratio, HDMI 2.1 with variable refresh rate and NVIDIA G-sync compatibility.

HDR is of course present and with a 1000nits of brightness on board and a Mediatek processor with 4GB RAM, it should sail through the latest streaming apps. But sadly, it is only slated for the local Chinese market for now, but we have our fingers crossed!
