Previously PlayStation announced the PSVR 2 controllers. The orb-shaped controllers have all the features of the formidable DualSense controller and are conveniently slashed in half for VR gaming. It also has adaptive triggers which we loved on the PS5 controller and the haptic feedback too. PlayStation says it can detect your touch without any pressing in the areas where you place your thumb, index, or middle fingers. Also, the orb shape is not because the designers at PlayStation are intoxicated, but because that ring enables tracking for the headset through a tracking ring across the bottom of the controller.
That said, now we have a final look at the headset too. It’s sleeker with a little bit of weight loss but still gains extra features like an adjustable band, lens and scope area (area between the face and the headset). Additionally, Sony has crammed in a motor for headset feedback. Not sure if it’s the same as the Haptic feedback but we’ll soon find out as PlayStation keeps dropping breadcrumbs of information.
The crowning achievement according to the PlayStation, Senior Art Director, Yujin Morisawa is the added vents. Yes, vents. Although something as punching holes in a headset might seem inconsequential, the team focused on getting it just right so that the lens inside doesn't fog up and the whole thing stays breathable. The PSVR 2 will also support 4K with HDR and inside-out camera tracking. There’s no price or reveal date just yet but I think we’re not far from strapping one on and waving our arms about.
