The Sony NW-A306 Walkman launched in India at ₹25,990

For the less opulent audiophiles…

While brands like OnePlus are venturing into TVs, TWS and even WiFi routers, Sony seems to spend more of their time perfecting a good, old-fashioned classic. The audio company had most recently launched the ₹69,000 NW-ZX707 with a massive 5in display. Since not everyone wants to spend iPhone levels of money on a Walkman, Sony has now unveiled the NW-A306, a more affordable alternative to its high-end NW-ZX707 walkman.

You can guess exactly who it is targeted at. Audiophiles who want better sound quality than the what’s available on Spotify and Apple Music. But credit where it is due… the Walkman is definitely more compact than a gramophone so let’s see what this little music box has to offer. Sporting a 3.6in displaying and weighing just 199 grams, the Walkman brings back the nostalgia of simpler times.

Don’t judge the device by its compact aluminium frame which contributes to a clearer and more stable sound with better bass. After all, it is focused on audio quality. So beneath the hood, this device brings the S-Master HX technology, which makes the sound clear and powerful. This technology was created specifically for the device and works well with music files in a format known as DSD. The device also employs artificial intelligence and a proprietary engine known as DSEE Ultimate to improve the sound of compressed music files in real time.

It doesn’t end there. To improve the sound quality, the device employs special techniques such as gold soldering. These techniques improve the sound by making it more precise and providing a larger sound space. All of these details are carefully placed inside the device to ensure the best possible sound. The battery life on the NW-A306 is long, allowing people to listen to music for longer periods of time. It has a battery life of up to 36 hours when playing FLAC music and up to 26 hours when streaming music.

The Sony NW-A306 Walkman will come with a ₹25,990 price tag and will be on sale starting today at all Sony Centres, major electronic stores, Headphone Zone, and e-commerce portals in India.
