With Valentine’s Day around the corner, you may be reinvigorating your endless search for your one true love. When it comes to this particular search, leave no stone unturned… and if you end up down the rabbit hole of dating apps, you will be glad to know that Tinder has announced a few more features to keep you safe from online abuse and all the creeps out there!
These improvements and developments to its ‘Does This Bother You?’ and ‘Are You Sure?’ features include expanding how it classifies harassment, sexual exploitation, and hate speech. Additionally, Tinder is introducing "Incognito Mode" and "Block Profile" as well as improvements to member reporting, providing its users more control within the app.
These improvements will serve as an effective catalyst to bring in more users since safety features on dating apps are one of the most important parts for the overall dating experience. So what exactly do these features do? The ‘Are you Sure?’ steps in when Tinder detects any unsuitable language, which is defined as being overtly sexual or violent. It will block this message before it is sent. While on the flip side, members are urged to report offensive conversations and punish those who choose to flout the rules by using the "Does This Bother You?" feature.
'Incognito Mode,' a function that goes beyond completely obscuring your profile, is one of the other significant additions made by Tinder. Even while members can still Like and Nope on the app, only those they've Liked will see them in their suggestions. As you browse through profiles on Tinder, be completely in control of who sees you. Lastly and most importantly, you can simply just Block Profiles for good. You can even simply long press and select the report option.
All these new features are a joint effort under the guidance of organisations like partners, such as NoMore, RAINN and GLAAD in the US and Yuvaa, Love Matters India, GAYSI to create the safest space possible.
