Volkswagen’s drivable electric chair is pulled out of the future

To spoil your office-bound butts

What would you think of someone who tells you about a motorized office chair that can drive around at a speed of 20kmph and comes with a headlight and horn, maybe that he’d lost his marbles, right? But rest assured we haven’t lost our marbles and the chair is not made up. Well built, yes! But not made up.

Designed by Volkswagen, this one-of-a-kind office chair has an electric motor and five wheels that can drive you from the behind of your desk to your boss’ den at 20kmph top speed or even to the cafeteria, courtesy its 12km range.

The straight out of fiction chair features a rear-view camera, 36-degree proximity sensors and headlight on both the arms. Plus, to keep you entertained while driving across the floor or waiting at the coffee machine queue, the chair is kitted out with a touchscreen infotainment system, built-in loudspeakers and multi-colored office party lights (for the weekends partay).

The feature-laden EV also has a bit of trunk space in the back for carrying all the files and papers, and a trailer hitch too.

Volkswagen has also gone an extra mile with the look of this smart chair. It has 4in solid aluminum rims in the wheels, metallic exterior paint and the company logo embroidered on the headrest.

Already dreaming of owning one? Hold your horses, the VW drivable office chair is designed as just an exhibition model and is not for sale as of now.
